QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

To ask the Chief Executive to present an update with regard to contacts he has received in respect of the Tennis Courts in Kingswood Heights, will he appreciate the interest in the community and make a statement?

REPLY:

The Council's Public Realm Section has received a number of contacts directly from Kingswood residents living close to the tennis courts who wish to see the refurbishment of the courts proceed.  As reported previously the Council allocated €20,000 to this project in the 2019 Public Realm Improvement Works Programme, which to date has not been spent.  A joint site visit with the residents group to a privately owned court to inspect an alternative type of surfacing was being arranged earlier in 2020 however this was put on hold at the start of the Covid 19 restrictions period, this will take place as soon as circumstances allow.   The current position is that the Council has no plans for these tennis courts other than the plan to refurbish them, and no funding other than the €20,000 refurbishment allocation exists.
