MOTION: Councillor Shane Moynihan

That this Area Committee supports the efforts of South Dublin County Council to provide a new home for Esker Boxing Club and looks forward to their being housed by the Club's 10th anniversary in 2022.

REPORT:

The community development team are fully aware of both the current circumstances of Esker BC and their stated future needs. A range of options for potential supports to them in achieving a permanent home for the club are at various stages of exploration but do not offer any immediate solutions. It is acknowledged that the club are actively and strongly campaigning on this and that they are anxious to secure their future. The team will be happy to meet with the club when there is a tangible solution to discuss with them.

The Council’s Community Grants are now open for applications and the Community Enhancement Programme administered by the LCDC will reopen from R2 applications shortly. There may be opportunities for Esker BC to explore within the different streams and, again, the community development team are available to assist the club with any potential applications.
