MOTION NO. 8

MOTION: Councillor M. Duff

This Area Committee, in recognition of the many years of Voluntary service in the Community and on SPCs, calls for the pedestrian and cycle bridge over the Dodder that links Bawnville and Kilininny to be named the Jim Lawlor Bridge. This motion is presented with the full support of Jim's family and local community activists and replaces my motion of June 22nd that was passed by this Area Committee.

REPORT:

The motion passed in June 2020 referred to naming the Sports Pavilion in Dodder Valley Park after the late Jim Lawlor and in line with the policy, normally an individual (or event) can only be commemorated with one plaque or monument within the County.

In accordance with Standing Order No 17 any matter decided by the local authority by motion on notice or on the report of a committee shall not be re-opened within 6 months of such decision. 

Therefore the motion passed in June 2020 will need to be resinded after a six months period has elapsed before a further motion of a similar nature can be referred to the Infrstructure Naming Committee.
