QUESTION NO. 2
QUESTION: Councillor E. O'Brien
To ask the Chief Executive to provide a report on the construction of both Airlie Park and Tandy's Lane Park to include work done to date in relation to the parks and an expected opening date for both
REPLY:
In relation to Tandy's Lane Park, construction commenced in late January 2020 and it is anticipated works will be completed in March 2022. Works undertaken and nearing completion include the following:
Works still to be completed relate primarily to seeding and planting of trees, grasses, hedgerows and wildflower mixes.
Estimating a potential opening date for Tandy's Lane Park would be slightly premature at this juncture, as this is dependent on how the planting and seeding which will take place over the next 2-3 months settles within the park. The process of planting/seeding and associated settling periods can also be weather dependant. However, taking the above factors into account it is likely that the park will not open before Q2 2021.
In relation to the Airlie Park Project, construction commenced in July 2020 and it is envisaged that works will be completed in Q4 2021/Q1 2022. Works undertaken to-date include the following:
Estimating a potential opening date for the Park would be premature at this juncture, as this 18 month project which has only recently commenced.
