QUESTION: Councillor Joanna Tuffy

To ask the Chief Executive Officer for an update on any plans for Lucan Library Service, are any improvements or additions planned, in particular can the Council source funds for refurbishment of the existing Lucan Library, are there any plans for additional buildings or hubs in the Lucan Electoral Area.

REPLY:

“South Dublin Library Service submitted a proposal for funding to the Department of Rural and Community Development under a call to Support Public Libraries Small Scale Capital Works. In the proposal we submitted we requested funding to upgrade Lucan Library, to adapt our public space to reflect social distancing and public health requirements. We anticipate an announcement on this funding application soon.

As part of the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) in phase six of the plan, there is provision for a Civic Centre/Library Building.”
