QUESTION: Councillor Joanna Tuffy
To ask the Chief Executive Officer to update on any plans to provide safe routes to cycle in the Lucan Electoral area, and to have more cycle routes between the different parts of Lucan, and the need for more bike parking facilities, segregated cycle lanes, and if he will make a statement on the matter
REPLY:
A presentation will be made by the Director of Land Use Planning and Transportation to the next Transport SPC, the presentation will outline the Councils vision, short and long term plan for cycling and cycle tracks within the entire county for the next 10 years.
The plan is called Cycle South Dublin.
The plan includes planned projects for 'Now', 'Soon' and 'Later Schemes'.
Within the Lucan electoral area, the 'Now Schemes', which have a timeframe of 2-4 years, include the Canal Loop Greenway.
Within the Lucan electoral area, the 'Soon Schemes', which have a timeframe of 4-7 years, include the Fonthill Road.
Within the Lucan electoral area, the 'Later Schemes', which have a timeframe of 7-10 years, include the Lucan Road and Leixlip to N4.
