MEETING OF LUCAN/PALMERSTOWN/FONTHILL AREA COMMITTEE

QUESTION NO. 17

QUESTION: Councillor P. Gogarty

To ask the Chief Executive if he will consider, at the earliest opportunity, suitable parklet areas in Palmerstown Village and Rowlagh near cafés and/or shops given the need for such services at suitable locations where there is space to do so and it doesn't block access to essential services but enhances the living experience; and if a statement can be made on the matter.

REPLY:

SDCC installed its first Parklet in Lucan Village on Friday 11th September 2020. This is a temporary measure and a test of general public acceptance of such facilities. Should it prove unsuccessful in Lucan Village, it may be relocated or the project may be abandoned.

The hope is that the Parklet will gain general public acceptance and in due course a network of Parklets may emerge across the county.
