MOTION NO. 20

MOTION: Councillor Shane Moynihan

That this Area Committee calls for the development of a Local Area Plan for Palmerstown, and that appropriate provision be made for this as part of the County Development Plan. 

REPORT:

Palmerstown village has two key zoning objectives:

RS – To protect and/or improve residential amenity

VC – To protect, improve and provide for the future development of village centres.

Areas that are considered to be priorities for Local Area Plans are zoned with the Zoning Objective RES-N: ‘To provide for new residential communities in accordance with approved area plans’ and relevant plans have been put in place for these lands.

The priority for the Council is the review of the County Development Plan 2016-2022 and preparation of the new county development plan which commenced on 31^st July 2020. Any consideration of a Local Area Plan for Palmerstown can be undertaken as part of the review process.
