MOTION NO. 18

MOTION: Councillor William Joseph Carey

"This Committee urges the Chief Execcutive to complete all works related to the Alpine/Ashwood Cycle Path including landscaping, CCTV installation and clearance of undergrowth at the trees along the cyclepath and to provide a timeline for the completion of all of this work."

REPORT: All the works are complete on this scheme except the CCTV. According to the GDPR legislation the Council can not own or operate a CCTV camera for the purpose of controlling, surveillance or monitoring of  anti-social or criminal activities. The Council can only operate CCTV cameras for traffic, littering and on properties belonging to the Council. The Council is liaising with An Garda Siochana with a view to them owning and operating the camera but to date they have not agreed to do so.
