MOTION NO. 12

MOTION: Councillor K. Egan

"To call on the Chief Executive to introduce a maintenance schedule for Knockmitten Playspace to enhance and maintain as a welcome addition to our community." 

REPORT:

The playspace at Knockmitten Park is inspected on a weekly basis as part of routine playground inspections undertaken in the area. Should any defects be identified they are remedied on site if possible. If items of equipment are not useable, they are either fixed at the time of inspection or taken out of use. If equipment is defective and cannot be taken out of use it may be removed from site pending repair. If necessary, the playground may have to remain shut until it is safe to reopen.

As part of the 2020 Public Realm Improvement Works Programme the link path into the playground which is comprised of loose bound material will be upgraded to a tarmac finish. Grass in the playground is cut every 2 to 3 weeks and shrubs are pruned as required. Following a recent site inspection, the playground was found to be in good condition.
