MOTION NO. 5

MOTION: Councillor S. O'Hara

"That this Area Committee gets an update on the proposals for a bio-diversity study of The Woodlands in Rathcoole."

REPORT:

Following the preliminary ecological appraisal report for the masterplanned lands at Rathcoole, South Dublin County Council has commissioned as recommended a suite of ecological surveys to include:

Terrestrial habitat and botanical survey

Rare Plant survey

Invasive species survey

Large mammal surveys

Bat survey

Ornithological survey

Amphibian survey.

The surveys are underway and were due to be completed in September 2020, however the effects of Covid 19 have pushed out the timeframe for completion of the survey work. It is anticipated that the results of the surveys and an ecological baseline report will be made available to South Dublin County Council in Q4 2020.
