COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE
Wednesday, September 16, 2020
MOTION NO. 17
MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons
"That this Area Committee call for an urgent safety review of all roads leading into Newcastle Village as a matter of urgency. Residents are very concerned that it is only a matter of time before someone is killed on the roads and strongly feel that safety needs to be addressed as a priority. This Committee asks that the safety survey results be brought to this Committee for discussion and an action plan be brought to local Clondalkin Area Councillors on what measures will be taken to improve residents safety. This Committee states that this is an extremely urgent matter."
REPORT:
Where there is an immediate requirement for Traffic calming measures in and around Newcastle Village, the members are requested to use the Ramps request form to address this matter in the short term. A fuller and more comprehensive traffic study should be carried out as part of the County Development Plan and Local Area Plan review processes to establish if more significant intervention measures are required.
