QUESTION: Councillor E. O'Brien

To ask the Chief Executive to provide an update in relation to construction of the new pavilion at Griffeen Valley Park

REPLY:

Griffeen Park pavilion is one of projects currently on the Council's pavillion programme. It received Part 8 planning permission from the Council late 2019.

The Council have appointed a contractor to the design build of the pavillion programme and the contractor is currently completing final landscape works at the pavillion in Old Bawn. These final works were impacted somewhat by Covid -19 restrictions. In advance of the Covid-19 lockdown the council arranged the removal of some containers which would impact on the works at Griffeen. Tender negotiation for Griffeen Pavillion is at an advanced stage to allow progress to Griffeen Park, but a start on site date has not yet been finalised as ESB are required to divert an overhead cable. SDCC remains in contact with ESB in this regard. Going forward COVID-19 containment measures will also impact the work progress.
