MOTION NO. 4

MOTION: Councillor Alan Hayes

That the Chief Executive commits to the development of a local area plan for the Palmerstown area in line with the county development plan:
CS6 Objective 1: To prepare Local Area Plans for areas that are likely to experience large scale residential or commercial development or regeneration. 

REPORT:

Palmerstown village has two key zoning objectives:

RS – To protect and/or improve residential amenity

VC – To protect, improve and provide for the future development of village centres.

Areas that were priorities for Local Area Plans are zoned with the Zoning Objective RES-N: ‘To provide for new residential communities in accordance with approved area plans’ and relevant plans have been put in place for these lands.

The current priority for the Council is the review of the County Development Plan 2016-2022 and preparation of a new county development plan which is due to commence in late July 2020. The commencement or preparation of new Local Area Plans would not be appropriate nor feasible while the review of the County plan is underway.
