COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN/PALMERSTOWN/FONTHILL AREA COMMITTEE

QUESTION NO. 18
QUESTION: Councillor Joanna Tuffy
To ask the Chief Executive Officer to give an update on all projects planned under the heading public realm in the Lucan Electoral area and any funding that has been set aside for these projects and what will happen next and if he will make a statement on the matter
REPLY:
In general, construction projects carried out by 3rd party contractors were paused during the Covid-19 lockdown phase. Since the phased lifting of Covid-19 restrictions the Council has been engaging with Contractors to ensure safe return to work of projects underway at the time of the lockdown. The Covid-19 crisis will have some impact on existing construction projects and projects going forward in terms of both programme and resources required to deliver same, but the Council will work with design teams and contractors to minimise adverse impacts as much as possible. The following is a list of public realm projects underway and currently planned within the LEA:
Sports Capital Grant Projects:
These are projects funded via the Sports Capital Grant programme and are at various stages. Lucan Airlie Park pitch; tender completed. Lucan Athletic Track Phase 2 commenced discussions with local club prior to Coivd 19 restrictions.
Pavillion Programme:
Funding for the pavillion programme is sought via the Sports Capital Grant programme. The pavillion at Griffeen Park has funding in place, recently completed Part 8 stage and will commence on site following agreement of detail design and tender. The works also require the relocation of a ESB line and co-ordination with the Lucan Pool works currently underway. Funding of €200,000 has also recently been allocated via the Sports Capital Grant programme for a Pavillion at Collinstown Park.
Astro Pitch Programme:
An Astro Pitch is planned for Airlie Park at Adamstown SDZ and has recently gone to tender; this is funded via the LIHAF programme, (see Airlie Park below). (Further Astro pitches are planned as part of the Clonburris SDZ plan and will be delivered via development processes).
Playspace programme:
Waterstown playground extension: nearing completion. Collinstown Playground: Contractor on site.
Teenspace Programme:
Funded via the capital programme. Esker: Design underway. Collinstown: Contractor on site. Phase 2 is currently being planned and under consideration.
Tandy’s Lane Park, Adamstown:
