MOTION NO. 30

MOTION: Councillor Shane Moynihan

That this Area Committee calls for the representation of South Dublin County Council at the Community Policing Forum for the Ballyfermot Garda district, which includes the eastern side of Palmerstown.

REPORT:

The Local Policing Forum for the Ballyfermot Garda district mainly covers the area of Ballyfermot that is administered by Dublin City Council; and Dublin City Council would also administer the Policing Forum. The area of Palmerstown covered by Ballyfermot Garda Station is similar to the area around Greenhills in South Dublin County which is covered by the D12 Local Policing Forum. The South Dublin County JPC, at its meeting in November 2019, agreed to seek representation and it was agreed to follow this up with the D12 LPF. A similar approach could be considered in this instance with a proposal made to the JPC and then to follow up with the Ballyfermot Local Policing Forum.
