MOTION: Councillor P. Gogarty

That the Chief Executive reports on plans to upgrade the village green area in Lucan and to outline whether the Covid 19 situation will influence the overall design so as to enable larger numbers to visit the planned plaza while also maintaining social distancing.

REPORT:

A brief for the upgrade of Lucan Village Green and other public realm improvement works for the village is currently being finalised and will be advertised by the end of June 2020. 

In relation to the design of the village green and whether Covid 19 will influence the design it would be premature during these uncertain times to give a definitive answer to this specific question.  As the situation and advices around outdoor gatherings and public places is ever evolving any design team appointed must be cognisant of this and will be made aware that any design proposals should future proof for social distancing.
