QUESTION: Councillor Eoin Ó Broin

To ask the chief executive if SDCC has an annual jobs fair where positions and careers available in the county council can be presented and discussed with interested citizens?

REPLY:

SDCC does not run an annual jobs fair, however staff from the Human Resources Department  and other relevant Departments attend various Recruitment Fairs when possible. In October 2019, staff from Environment Water & Climate Change and Human Resources Department attended a Construction & Engineering Recruitment Fair hosted by TU, Dublin, Bolton Street which gave the Council an opportunity to meet students and to market SDCC as an employer of choice.

SDCC continues to build upon the strong links with various academic institutions including TU Dublin and Tallaght, Maynooth University and UCD. In addition, strong links have been developed with local schools in partnership with State Training Agency SOLAS in piloting a Local Apprenticeship Initiative and have one Apprentice Painter who was successfully recruited as part of this process.
