MOTION NO. 3

MOTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

To ask the Chief Executive for an update report on the proposal (2016 and since) that the Council engage with Palmerstown Community Council and the Liffey Valley Park Alliance with the objective of setting up on a pilot bases a “Friends of Waterstown Park” working group that would work alongside the Council to preserve, protect and develop this park to its potential in keeping with this Councils policy for this park.

REPORT:

As reported at the Lucan Area Committee meeting in December 2016 under Motion 11, there are a number of robust systems currently in place which allow public representatives, residents and interested groups to engage with the Council. These include Customer Care, Membersnet, fix-your-street, Deputations and Area Committee Meetings. The setting up of a “Friends of Waterstown Park” working group would demand a range of resources to establish, develop and sustain and would replicate systems already in existence. If there are particular issues that the Palmerstown Community Council or the Liffey Valley Alliance would like addressed, contact should be made by one of the channels listed above where the matter can be followed up on and discussions take place where required.
