MEETING OF LUCAN/PALMERSTOWN/FONTHILL AREA COMMITTEE

Tuesday, May 26, 2020

QUESTION NO. 35

QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

It was agreed at previous meeting to further report on the issue in the motion raised (Motion 17 November ACM Item No 63938). Could the Chief Executive give further explanation as to how and why the building were demolished and what is the protocol in such matters when disposing of council owned property. Also report on the current buildings West of the R120 parallel to Lucan Sarsfield premises.

REPLY:

The properties in question were acquired for the facilitation of the R120/R134 Road realignment and upgrade project. The realignment and upgrade works required some demolition of structures to accommodate the line of the road. Any current buildings form part of the remainder of the site and are at present not in use.

The contractor for the works continued to use one of the sites as a site compound and the maintenance period is still ongoing which may necessitate ongoing use.

Disposal of Council owned property requires a resolution of the Council and decisions are informed by a recommendation from the chief valuer both in terms of the options for progressing sale and determination of the monetary value of the property involved.
