FORTUNESTOWN LANE - TRAFFIC CALMING

QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr

"To ask the manager what plans the Roads Department have for the installation of traffic calming measures on Fortunestown Lane adjacent to Carrigmore Estate in view of the fact pedestrian safety needs to be increased in this area with the opening Citywest Shopping Centre in the next year and will he make a statement on the matter?"

REPLY:

Pending the construction of Phase 3 of the Outer Ring Road and its impact on traffic patterns on the associated road network, the impact of proposed developments on existing traffic patterns in the area will be assessed in the context of the County Modelling Study, which is currently in preparation.  In the meantime, a box junction will be installed at the entrance to Carrigmore Estate.

There is an existing footpath linking Carrigmore Estate with the new City West shopping centre which is presently under construction.  This location will be kept under review.
