COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN/PALMERSTOWN/FONTHILL AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, May 26, 2020
MOTION NO. 9
MOTION: Councillor L. Kinsella-Colman
To ask the chief Executive to report on what measures are the council putting in place should a person staying in Hubs or temporary accommodation have to self isolate or contracts the Coronavirus, to stop it spreading?
REPORT:
All efforts have been made to ensure isolation facilities are available in family hubs and emergency accommodation, should they be required.
Additional, own door, accommodation was secured by SDCC and the Dublin Regional Homeless Executive to ensure that there were more options available to service providers to allow persons to self isolate or for cocooning purposes. Vulnerable homeless persons in SDCC were identified and moved to cocooning facilities where applicable.
Individuals in hostel type accommodation were granted 24 hour access to the facility and food has been provided on site. These measures have helped to reduce the need for travel for the individuals and reduce the risk of infection.
Housing allocations, both to SDCC and AHB stock, continued during the pandemic and priority was given to homeless families who had received an offer of accommodation.
When the management of a facility or the Council is notified of a case of Coronavirus by a resident in emergency accommodation, a referral is made to the HSE (SafetyNet) and the DRHE and appropriate action is taken immediately. The HSE and the DRHE provide accommodation where the individual/family can isolate as necessary and the remaining residents in emergency accommodation are given advise as to best practice.
