MOTION NO. 5
MOTION: Councillor M. Johansson
That the Chief Executive report on the possibility of installing bottle banks at the new North Clondalkin library, and any other possible locations. This committee agrees that, due to all other locations being found to be unsuitable, bottle banks should be installed at the library.
REPORT:
The Environment Department referred this request to the Architects Department to investigate the possibility of installing bottle banks at the new North Clondalkin library. The view expressed by the Architects Department is that the new Library will not have a carpark and hence the possibility of installing the bottle banks at the new library is not feasible. Further investigations of other nearby locations at Liscarne, Rowlagh and Neilstown were carried out by the Environment Department in recent times however none of these have progressed as they were either deemed unsuitable or were rejected by local businesses and the local community through local public consultation.
