QUESTION NO. 7

QUESTION: Councillor Shane Moynihan

To ask the Chief Executive for an update with regard to the progress in the construction of the Griffeen Park Pavilion, and to describe the consultation that has taken place so far, specifically the clubs with whom the Council has engaged as part of the consultation. 

REPLY:

Griffeen Park pavilion received Part 8 planning permission from the Council. Regarding project progress; tender negotiation is at an advanced stage but a start on site date has not yet been finalised as ESB are required to divert an overhead cable. SDCC has been in contact with ESB in this regard. Going forward COVID-19 containment measures will also impact the work progress.   

A full statutory public consultation has taken place for the Griffeen Park Pavilion. During that process, the council received submissions including from a local sports club; which were responded to. The drawings and information remain available on the council public consultation portal for interested parties.  Council officials met with representatives from Ballyowen Celtic on site earlier in the year to organise moving the existing storage containers to facilitate the new build. The containers were moved before restrictions were put in place. The Council will continue to keep the lines of contact open during the construction phase; if members wish to forward any further queries to us please do so.
