SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN/PALMERSTOWN/FONTHILL AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO.
MOTION: Councillor L. O'Toole
Following a question I raised at last months meeting this committee asks the Chief Executive to make plans to modify the roundabout. The problem at this location is the traffic that’s driving through the village heading west is turning right over the bridge and creating gridlock for those living local and those that are trying to commute around the village. To ask also if management could include drawings in response showing how this could or could not work
REPORT:
Traffic section have no plans to carry out modifications to the Roundabout in Lucan village because:
1. It makes the area less safe for cyclists and pedestrians
2. It makes it more difficult for larger vehiles to turn righ to cross the bridge
3. SDCC Traffic section are satisfied that there is an adequate alternative access to the village
A drawing is attached illustrating how the additional laneway could be achieved.
