COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN/PALMERSTOWN/FONTHILL AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, February 25, 2020
MOTION NO. 17
MOTION: Councillor L. O'Toole
This committee and its members have a significant role in monitoring the continuous development of the first SDZ in the county and country at Adamstown, which is still in the process of delayed development, and a second SDZ, at Clonburris, which is yet to commence. The members ask that separate SDZ meetings are added into the calendar (possibly at the alternate monthly 2.15 pm slot with the Traffic Management Meeting, prior to the Monthly LEA meeting). This will enable all stakeholders including the councillors to oversee progress and be kept fully informed. To date quarterly SDZ updates are included as a Headed Item in area committee meetings and while helpful, doesn't allow for sufficient time to discuss in detail issues raised by constituents, nor does it allow for these to be fully answered, given that the SDZ process involves a number of departments from time to time. This committee requests the Chief Executive makes the necessary arrangements.
REPORT:
The Planning Authority fully acknowledge the role of the Elected Members in monitoring the delivery of South Dublin County Council’s Strategic Development Zones (SDZ). In this regard, it is now proposed to hold a separate quarterly SDZ meeting in lieu of being a Headed Item on the ACM agenda, where updates will be provided on both Adamstown and Clonburris SDZ respectively. The exact details (i.e. date, time, duration and content) of this new SDZ Monitoring meeting will be developed and relayed to all members within the coming weeks.
