MOTION NO. 3
MOTION: Councillor Joanna Tuffy
That the Library Service consult with members about plans to extend the mobile library service and areas that could benefit
REPORT:
“As previously outlined to Members, the Mobile Library Service in SDCC is working at full capacity to deliver library services around the county with 45 public stops, school drops and services to preschool children. A housebound service is also offered to patrons who have difficulty attending the library and patrons can contact their local branch library for information on this service.
Later in the year with the opening of the new North Clondalkin Library and the new Castletymon Library, there may be room in the timetable to identify new stops and service provision, if the current stops in North Clondalkin and Castletymon are adjusted. Library staff will work with Members to continue to give a fair geographic spread across the county, considering social demographics and communities with greatest need. Library staff do monitor stops to ascertain the busiest stops, but also accommodating a spread across the county where no fixed library service exists”
