QUESTION: Councillor Joanna Tuffy

To ask the Council to give an update on need for retail facilities at Adamstown as part of the development of the area under the SDZ

REPLY:

The Adamstown SDZ proposes that shopping and retail facilities will be provided in three principal centres within the Adamstown SDZ. The Adamstown Square tile will be home to the major district centre, whilst there is also provision for two local centres at Tandy's Lane Village and Tobermaclugg Village respectively. It is required that each local centre includes a large convenience store/large supermarket together with units suitable for use as individual retail shops.  

Planning permission has been granted for a supermarket under planning application SDZ18A/0015 in Tobermaclugg Village, which is presently under construction. The Local and District Centres will be subject to future planning applications at Tandy's Lane Village and Adamstown Square, which will both include retail facilities as part of the phased delivery of the SDZ.
