MOTION NO. 9
MOTION: Councillor Alan Edge
That this Committee calls on the Chief Executive to landscape and improve the appearance of the roundabout outside Firhouse Educate Together.
REPORT:
The roundabout at Firhouse Educate Together is at the junction of Ballycullen Drive and Carriglea Walk. The roundabout has a small radius and due to this and the layout of the existing footpaths, grass margins and kerblines around it the area is quite tight to turn on particularly for larger vehicles such as refuse freighters. The roundabout is currently hard surfaced, part in concrete and the remainder in paving brick, and this hard surface enables larger vehicles to drive onto the roundabout itself in order to make a turn. If the roundabout was to be soft landscaped it would no longer be possible to turn on it, and for this reason the Public Realm Section do not propose to make any changes to the roundabout at this time.
