QUESTION NO. 1

QUESTION: Councillor Eoin Ó Broin

"To ask the Chief Executive for an update on efforts to restore the lighting, CCTV and waste collection infrastructure on the Grand Canal Greenway between the 9th and 12th Locks to working order and an update on the level of co-operation ongoing between South Dublin County Council and Waterways Ireland, ESB, an Garda Síochána and the National Transportation Authority (NTA)?"

REPLY:

Work on restoring Public Lighting commenced and was completed before Christmas. High spec Anti Vandal poles for CCTV cameras have been imported from the UK and preliminary works to install these is underway. In conjunction with this work, vandalised CCTV cameras will be replaced and commissioned. The removal of accumulated illegally dumped waste was undertaken last week and the Greenway is now clear of waste. Co-operation is ongoing between all the agencies referred to in the question with a further meeting planned before the end of the month.
