COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN/PALMERSTOWN/FONTHILL AREA COMMITTEE

QUESTION NO. 26
QUESTION: Councillor Alan Hayes
To ask the chief executive for a full update on the legal situation regarding the Scoil Oscair site at Griffeen Avenue, Lucan and if there is any timeframe available to commence construction on the site.
REPLY:
Following a High Court order made on Monday 18th November 2019, the illegal occupiers were to vacate the Old School Site by 5 pm on 15th January 2020 and remove all caravans and all other objects from the property. As the site as not been vacated in accordance with the High Court order, the remaining occupiers are now in breach of the order of the Court. The matter is listed before the High Court again on 27th January 2020.
Our staff are liaising with relevant contractors, legal advisors and Gardai to make arrangements to enforce the court order that the families at the site in Balgaddy consented to last November.
The development for social housing at Balgaddy was approved under Part 8 of the Planning & Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) by the Council in April 2019 for the provision of 69 residential units and one community facility. The Housing Department in November 2019 submitted a Stage 2 budget proposal, which includes a cost effectiveness analysis report, to the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government for approval to progress to tender.
