QUESTION NO. 10

QUESTION: Councillor Alan Hayes

To ask the chief executive to report on the plans for the site between Foxborough and Carline centre and to provide a list and explanation of all survey works that have taken place on this site in recent months.

REPLY:

The Carline lands are located to the south west of Foxborough estate and are bound by Thomas Omar Way to the south and the Outer Ring Road to the west. The site is on a long term lease from SDCC for use as the Carline Learning Centre. The lands are located within the Clonburris SDZ Planning Scheme 2019. Within the Planning Scheme, the lands are within the Kishoge North East Development Area and comprise part of Sub Sector S1. The Planning Scheme plans for the provision of circa 125 units on the subject lands. It is noted that in September 2019, the Peter McVerry Trust took over the running of the Carline Learning Centre.

During 2019, the Dublin Dun Laoghaire Education & Training Board (DDLETB) have been in discussions with the Carline Learning Centre with regard to providing temporary accommodation for Griffeen Community College on the lands to the north of the existing building as an interim measure whilst the permanent school structure is planned and constructed. Survey work carried out to date may have been on behalf of the DDLETB with the consent of the Carline Learning Centre. SDCC has and will continue to liaise with the DDLETB with regard to potential options for temporary accommodation for Griffeen Community College. This work is ongoing and further communication on the feasibility of temporary facilities in the vicinity of Kishoge Community College is anticipated.
