FILLING OF CASUAL VACANCY ON SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL IN ACCORDANCE WITH S.19 OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 2001 FOLLOWING THE ELECTION TO DÁIL ÉIREANN OF COUNCILLOR M. WARD
REPLY:
As a result of the election of Councillor Mark Ward to Dáil Eireann on Saturday 30th November 2019, a casual vacancy has occurred on South Dublin County Council (Palmerstown - Fonthill Electoral Area).
Section 19 of the Local Government Act 2001 provides that a casual vacancy shall be filled by the co-option by the Local Authority of a person to fill the vacancy and such co-option shall be made at the next meeting of the local authority after the expiration of 14 days from the occurrence of the vacancy or as soon after the expiration of the 14 days as circumstances permit.
Ms. Lisa Kinsella-Colman has been duly nominated by Sinn Féin, being the registered political party who nominated Councillor Ward for election, and in accordance with Section 19 (5) Ms. Kinsella-Colman's written consent to her proposed co-option has been received.
Members are required to ratify the co-option of Ms. L. Kinsella-Colman at today’s meeting.
