MOTION: Councillor Alan Edge

To ask the Chief Executive to report on the current position as regards Changing Places at Whitechurch Library.

REPORT:

The Whitechurch Library Building has moved from Library Services to now being an asset of Community Services Section. 

Discussion have commenced with the WEB Project Board of Management in relation to the future management of the Old Library Building, where it has been proposed that the WEB Project would be presented with a Management Licence from SDCC to manage the building on behalf of the Community Services Section. The Board of Management have being giving this proposal their consideration and a meeting will be held with Community Services in early January to progress this.

The Changing Places Project proposal is supported by Community Services and has been allocated of €72,600 from the Council's Community Initiative Fund. The WEB Project has engaged an Architect to advise on the delivery of the project, once the management structure for the building has been confirmed, the Changing Places Project can then be progressed to completion.
