MOTION NO. 18
MOTION: Councillor M. Johansson
That the Chief Executive produce a report on the Tree Maintenance programme and an update on the delays this year in relation to estates in North Clondalkin and Palmerstown.
REPORT:
The current three year Tree Maintenance Programme is currently being progressed. A full report on the programme will be presented to the members in February along with the proposed new three year Tree maintenance programme. As the programme is behind schedule, a number of areas will be carried forward into the new programme.
In North Clondalkin, the following areas have been surveyed and works completed - Wheatfield Drive, Wheatfields Court and Crescent - open space, Alpine Heights, Ashwood, Wheatfield,
Work to be completed - Glenfield and the crew are currently working in Lealand estate. There is outstanding work to be completed in 4 areas in North Clondalkin area and surveys have been completed.
In Palmerstown, the following areas have been surveyed and works completed - Culmore Road, Palmerstown Avenue, Palmerstown Court, Riversdale estate - mature trees, Wheatfield Road.
There is outstanding work to be completed in 4 areas in Palmerstown area and surveys have been completed in 2 of these areas.
The current tree management system based on the Council's Tree Management Policy 2015-2020 "Living With Trees", focuses on entire roads or whole estates. The trees in the selected areas are surveyed, the survey along with a photograph of the tree is recorded and the recommended tree maintenance work is then planned and carried out. This approach is thorough and ensures confidence in the tree work done and completed.
