QUESTION NO. 11
QUESTION: Councillor P. Gogarty
To ask the Manager to ensure that Palmerstown is spelt correctly in the voters register under its care as many residents were upset, in the recent by-election, to find that all the Litir Um Thoghcán communications were addressed as "Palmerston" rather than Palmerstown, despite the community having gone through the bureaucratic formalities to restore the correct spelling in a plebiscite some years ago.
REPLY:
The Voter.ie registration had produced the incorrect spelling of "Palmerston" on some polling cards issued in the recent bye election. This issue has now been rectified and the correct spelling of Palmerstown will now appear on polling cards for those addresses included in the plebiscite of 2014. The name Palmerston still exists as an Electoral Division in the LEA Palmerstown-Fonthill and requires a ministerial order to have this changed.
