QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell
To ask the Chief Executive how many residential units in this LAC circumscription have received new doors or windows, or other house repairs, during 2019 and to report on what is planned for 2020 and if he would make a statement in the matter.
REPLY:
There are 13 addresses on the current windows and doors programme in the Lucan/Palmerstown/Fonthill local electoral area. During 2019, one full replacement of joinery and two single replacements of a bedroom window and a front door were carried out on units in this area.
Within the Lucan/Palmerstown/Fonthill local electrical area, there were 2,513 maintenance requests for 1,167 units completed to date in 2019. These maintenance works ranged from house inspections, central heating System repairs, roofing works, plumbing, carpentry and electrical works, plastering and painting within units.
In relation to 2020, the Accelerated Planned Maintenance Programme of works is due to commence. The programme will primarily focus on the delivery of window and door replacements and the painting of exterior windows and doors of housing stock which is in excess of ten years old. The housing maintenance team is near to concluding the tender process for the appointment of the successful contractors for the delivery of the window and door replacement. It should be noted that final number of appointed contractors may be somewhat lower than originally envisaged and this will have some impact on the implementation period for the delivery of the programme. It is planned however to prioritise works based on urgency of the works as well the circumstances of older tenants and those with medical needs.
The programme will also include the painting of older persons' housing and safety works (including installation/replacement smoke/heat monitors, carbon monoxide monitors and window restrictors).
