The consultants facilitated two workshops with TY students in two secondary schools in the locality of the proposed scheme, St Mac Dara’s was held on 18.10.19 and the workshop in Templeogue College was held on 05.11.19. The children were delighted to be asked their opinion and were very engaging. They produced some great drawings and descriptions of what their needs are in the area. The primary schools were facilitated by our Roads Safety Officer who carried out Walkability Audits in Bishop Galvin SNS and Riverview ENTS, again valid information was gathered on how the students move in the locality and their difficulties highlighted.
The consultants facilitated a Citizen Workshop on 20.11.19 and a Councillor Workshop on 21.11.19. Staff from SDCC, and consultants attended and assisted at both of these workshops. Two councillors took part in the Councillor Workshop and estimated twenty citizens came to our Citizen Workshop held in the Spawell.
The participants of the citizen workshop were appraised before and after the event. Before the event, they were unsure and apprehensive of the engagement as they had never experienced it before, following the event participants used phrases such as; meaningful engagement, ownership, excited. An email received the following day from a participant inclued terms such as "well organised meeting, speakers excellent, enjoyable experience, everyone given opportunity to have their say".
A final report is expected from the consultants in the week beginning 16.12.19.
