MOTION NO. 9

MOTION: Councillor Eoin Ó Broin

"That this Area Committee calls on South Dublin County Council to make as a condition of contracts awarded for work carried out on behalf of South Dublin County Council along the banks of the Camac River that contractors not be allowed to dump construction waste along the bank. On two occasions within the last year contractors hired by South Dublin County Council have dumped construction waste along the banks of the river as can be seen in the attached photos."

REPORT:

All South Dublin County Council contracts contain clauses that any waste material has to be removed to a licensed landfill site. The works referred to in the Motion and in the accompanying photographs were not carried out by South Dublin County Council but by the ESB in erecting new poles.
The Roads Control Unit Inspector has been in contact with the ESB and they have been instructed to remove any material and carry out some planting at the locations.
