QUESTION: Councillor Yvonne Collins

To ask the Chief Executive, in the event that planning permission is granted for multiple build to rent units on the lands at Scholarstown Road formerly owned by Liam Cosgrave, whether the Council intends buying or leasing, directly or indirectly, all or a substantial proportion of the build to rent units.

REPLY:A Part V agreement for the provision of 10% social housing on private developments is negotiated with a developer following grant of planning permission. It would be premature to consider the Part V consideration prior to the planning decision being made. The Council's preference is to acquire Part V units however it should be noted that all developments are subject to negotiations with the developer based on the planning permission granted and Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government funding.
