QUESTION NO. 23

QUESTION: Councillor Joanna Tuffy

To ask the Chief Executive for an update on Planning requirements re Construction traffic using Dodsboro and Newcastle Roads - what requirements are there, including washing of wheels, and any other requirements or agreements aimed at reducing detrimental impact on the quality of life of existing residents of construction traffic to do with new housing development in the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone.

REPLY:

Planning permissions relevant to Adamstown SDZ include as one of the conditions, the need to keep roads free from dirt and rubble. The manner in which developers do this may differ but in Adamstown it is typically by road cleaners.

Construction traffic to/from Adamstown is not restricted to certain roads and can therefore, access/egress from the Newscastle Road or the Dodsboro road. By allowing construction traffic to use available access points in a more dispersed way provides the lesser impact on the quality of life of exiting residents.
