Pedestrian Crossing Stewarts Hospital Old Lucan Road Palmerstown

REPORT:

 SDCC's Engineer met with the service provider and committee on site in late October 2019. This was a very constructive meeting.

While SDCC may be in favour of installing measures to assist with safe road crossing for vulnerable users, current national guidelines provide for "warrant thresholds" and this may impact on the Council's ability to provide such facilities.

Research through other Local authority areas indiate similar issues.

Accordingly, correspondence has since issued to the Principal Advisor in the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport requesting national guidance specifically in relation to vulnerable road users and their crossing points, where the warrant threshold is not achieved.
