MOTION NO. 2

MOTION: Councillor E. Murphy

That this area committee considers replacing the bins in Prospect Manor with SDCC maintained bins. The estate is currently managing their own bins yet this has become unsustainable. 

 

REPORT:

There is a small number of post-mounted litter bins in Prospect Manor estate located on the open space, just inside the entrance to the estate, and these are currently serviced by the resident's association.  The Council does not in general provide litter bins within housing estates except in circumstances of high footfall brought about by the proximity to a school or shopping centre for example, and this is not the case at Prospect Manor.  The Public Realm Section is not in a position to take on the servicing of the litter bins on the open space at Prospect Manor, however the provision of a litter bin just inside the estate at the entrance from Stocking Lane could be considered.
