QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan

To ask the Chief Executive to report on the removal of the litter bins along Stocking Avenue and what the current cleaning schedule is as there are numerous complaints about people dumping rubbish at the bus stops where the bins used to be.  

REPLY:

The Council's Public Realm section has given a commitment to reinstate litter bins at bus termini on Stocking Avenue.  Currently there is only one such litter bin in place, bins previously in place in the area were removed due to ongoing abuse and misuse of the bins.  Following the completion of a tender process for the supply of new litter bins a contract has been signed with a new supplier and new bins have now been placed on order. It is expected that these will be delivered and installed before the end of year.
