MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO.  3

MOTION: Councillor William Joseph Carey

"That this Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to upgrade the fencing between Cherrywood Crescent and Corkagh Park from the cul-de-sac to the pedestrian entrance in order to provide better access for wheelchair users and parents with buggies, and to ensure the integrity of the newly established cul-de-sac at Cherrywood Crescent by raising the heights of the existing fence."

REPORT:

As part of the 2019 Public Realm Improvement Works Programme, the k- barrier opposite 12A Cherrywood Crescent will be removed and replace by a vehicle control gate. The vehicle control gate is designed to provide universal access for pedestrians, wheelchairs and prams. The opening of the gate is constructed in a manner that restricts access for motorbikes, quads and horses. As part of the works, the drop kerb beside the road will be reduced in height to make it more accessible.

The height of the fence at the cul-de-sac at Cherrywood Crescent is consistent with fences used at other boundaries locations around the park and there are no proposals to alter it.
