QUESTION NO. 9

QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

To ask the Chief Executive when a water filter station can be installed in the Griffeen park located near the organisers at the park run area, this location would also benefit other park users including the many sports activities that take place in the park. This would encourage many to bring along reusable water bottles. Could the Chief Executive also confirm if all water stations are filtered water systems.

REPLY:

The Council's Public Realm Section has to date installed two public drinking water font in Griffeen Valley Park located at the skate park and beside the playground. An additional water font is planned to be installed in the vicinity of the ball wall at the Newcastle Road car Park. While there are no plans to install a water font at the Haydens Lane end of the park this location will be considered for inclusion in a further round of water font installations at a future date.

The existing water fonts at the skate park and playground use unfiltered water. The proposed new water font near the ball wall will use filtered water.
