QUESTION NO. 2
QUESTION: Councillor Joanna Tuffy
To ask the Chief Executive for an update on capacity for extension of the mobile Library service in Lucan including estates close to Lucan Village and other parts of Lucan furthest away from Lucan Library, how estates are added to the service, and also for an update on the 'Have Your Say' proposal for mini libraries in public places and its implementation to date by the Library service.
REPLY:
“The Mobile Library Service in South Dublin county is working at full capacity to deliver library services around the county. A full listing of the routes and stops for the public, along with school drops and creches is outlined in Headed Item (4) Library News and Events. The timetable was adjusted in the summer to incorporate a new stop in Lucan at Esker Meadow View, which is going well. The stops are monitored by library staff to ascertain the busiest stops, but also accommodating a spread across the county, where no fixed library service exists.
South Dublin Libraries purchased the required allocation of free library books under the 300k Have Your Say initiative in the Lucan/Palmerstown area. The budget was €3,000 and books were purchased and delivered to the following centres:
The project was completed in early 2018”.
