MOTION NO. 17

MOTION: Councillor P. Gogarty

That the Chief Executive, in light of multiple submissions from residents and elected representatives on a range of issues relating to this site over the past year - and noting our wholehearted continuing support for the official Traveller Accommodation Programme -,immediately acts to close down the unauthorised encampment beside Foxborough estate, which does not include any families under SDCC’s duty of care and is something Dublin City Council needs to show leadership on, while also acknowledging that the national council by council  scheme is not fit for purpose.

REPORT:

The Council has issued legal proceedings in respect of the unlawful occupation of Council lands known as the ‘The Old School Site’, Balgaddy, Lucan. The matter is now sub judice and will be listed before the courts in October 2019. The Council is therefore prohibited from discussing the case publically and will be making no further comment at this time.
