MOTION NO. 22
MOTION: Councillor M. Ward
The Service Users Council of Stewart Hospital believe having a safe place to cross the road for all their service user and particularly for service users who have mobility issues will lead to an increased quality of life and more independence
That this Area Committee supports their campaign for a pedestrian crossing on the Old Lucan Road, Palmerstown, near Ulster Bank and furthermore that the Chief Executive ask the NTA and the Dept. of Transport for guidance of warrant for a pedestrian crossing at this location, highlighting the extenuating needs of the service users
REPORT:
At the recent site visit it was agreed that the Council's Traffic Section would:
a) carry out a traffic count to establish the degree of pedestrian and vehicular usage and
b) carry out research to establish best practice for the provision of crossing facilities relevant to this situation.
The count is currently scheduled and the research is still in progress.
