COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN/PALMSERTOWN/FONTHILL AREA COMMITTEE

QUESTION NO. 24
QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell
To ask the Chief Executive for a report on the signalised pedestrian crossing in Palmerstown Village that was the subject of a local site visit with Stewarts Hospital and that the need to support independent movement for patrons of Stewarts Hospital, as part of the Council’s inclusive mobility policy, be factored into the criteria when forming an opinion and arriving at a decision on this long awaited and very necessary facility.
REPLY:
At the March Lucan ACM the following reply was given:-
"The crossing previously agreed to was an unsignalised crossing point and this has been provided. At the recent site visit it was agreed that the Council's Traffic Section would:
a) carry out a traffic count to establish the degree of pedestrian and vehicular usage and
b) carry out research to establish best practice for the provision of crossing facilities relevant to this situation.
These are still in progress."
The Traffic count is one of a number of locations which is currently being carried out. The research is ongoing.
